Navagio

Navagio Beach in the northwest part of the island is undoubtedly the most famous beach in Zakynthos with exceptional beauty and natural royalty.

Before it was called Navagio, the beach was called Agios Georgios. On October 1st, 1980, the Greek authorities spotted the ship "Panagiotis" near the island, which was carrying contraband cigarettes. During its attempt to escape and because of the bad weather, it ended up on the now-famous beach of Navagio.

It is one of the most photographed and well-known beaches in Greece. Towering white rocks with beautiful greenery on top and crystal-clear turquoise waters that blend harmoniously with the white sand invite countless tourists from all over the world to marvel at the unique beauty of this miraculous landscape.

Your access to Navagio beach is possible only from the sea. There are daily routes from several areas of the island, such as the port of Zante, Alykes, Laganas Bay, and Porto Vromi. If you want to see the Shipwreck from above, you can drive to the Monastery of Agios Georgios of Gremna. On the lower side of the Monastery, there is a platform from where you are able to admire the panoramic view safely.
